The English Department is passionate about teaching proper research methods and MLA documentation, since these skills are essential for students in high school, college, and beyond. To facilitate this process, we rely on the Research Paper Procedure manual. Written by Amy M. Kleppner, a former Whitman English teacher, the manual is an invaluable resource for students. All freshmen are required to purchase the Research Paper Procedure manual ($22.00) at the beginning of the school year through their English teachers. All other new incoming students are required to purchase the manual at the beginning of the school year at the school store. It is important for students to keep track of their manuals, as these texts will be used every year in English. Copies can be purchased at the Whitman school store, which is located next to the cafeteria.
